Transfer Audio Formats to CD or Digital Files

Our Audio Transfer Service

Audio Transfer to CDAt Audio Transfer we have been transferring audio formats to CD and digital files since 2004, and over the years have had hundreds of satisfied customers. We can transfer Vinyl Records, Audio Reels, Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, Mini Discs and D.A.T Tapes. We only use high quality-maintained audio equipment to transfer your precious audio recordings directly to computer, we never use a USB connection or direct to disc to digitise your audio as this can result in a poor non-professional transfer.

Audio Transfer with Fibre OpticOur transfer process involves transferring to computer via a fibre-optic digital cable also known as TOSLINK. We connect all our older analogue equipment to a Sony D.A.T tape recorder which is then connected directly to our computer using the fibre-optic cable. For transfers to Compact Disc, we will capture your audio at 16 bit 44.1kHz however for digital files we can capture up to 24 bit 48 kHz offering the highest quality available.

Audio Transfer to Digital WAV fileIf choosing digital files, we convert to most audio formats including WAV, AIFF and MP3, however if you’re looking for a specific file format, we can encode your files to almost any audio file format. Once your digital files have been created, they can be put onto a USB drive or we can supply you a link for your files to be downloaded digitally.

As standard when transferring Vinyl, reels or cassettes we will also reduce the amount of background noise such as crackle and hiss at no extra charge. Although we can’t remove the noise completely, we can reduce it to improve the original recording.

What We Transfer

33, 45, 78rpm record TransferFor transferring your vinyl records we use an Audio Technica LP5x which is capable of transferring all three speeds 33, 45 and 78, when transferring your 78rpm records we use a special stylus designed for playing only 78 records. We will also filter out the background cracks and pops from your record making it sound clearer however we won’t be able to remove it completely.

Audio Reel TransferWe use a Philips 4407 open reel tape recorder to transfer your ¼ inch audio reels. Reels can be recorded at three different speeds however that is not a problem for us as we can play reels recorded at all three speeds. Out of all the formats we transfer reels tend to have the most noise due to the technology at the time, so like the other services, we will filter out as much of the noise as possible without affecting the quality of the recording.

If required we will also fit new leader tape as most of the time the reels we receive don’t have any, all this is included in the cost of transfer meaning there are no hidden charges.

Audio Cassette TransferWe use a Technics RS-BX601 cassette deck to transfer your audio cassettes to our computer. We will also filter out the background hiss from your audio cassette making it sound clearer however we won’t be able to remove it completely.

Micro Cassette TransferWe use a Sony M-530V Micro Cassette Recorder to transfer your microcassettes to our computer. We will also filter out the background hiss from your audio cassette making it sound clearer however we won’t be able to remove it completely.

Mini Cassete transfer to CD, Wav, Aiff or MP3 filesFor Philips Mini Cassettes we use a Pocket Memo 390 recorder which is connected directly to our computer to ensure a high-quality transfer from your Mini Cassettes. Once captured we will then filter out the background hiss to make the recording sound clearer, however, we won’t be able to remove it completely.

Transfer Stenorette cassettes to CD, Wav, Aiff, MP£ or USBWe can transfer Grundig Stenorette cassettes using a specially modified Grundig 2050 recorder allowing it to be connected directly to the computer. These recorders were never fitted with audio output connections, which meant the only way to digitise these cassettes was to put a microphone up to the speaker resulting in poor audio quality. We don’t have this problem as our machine is fitted with audio out. Once your Stennorette cassette has been captured we will filter out any background hiss making your recording sound clearer.

When transferring Minidisc, Minidisc Transferwe use a Sony MDS-JE330 minidisc deck which is connected using the optical digital connection. Normally Minidiscs don’t contain background noise however if your recording has background hiss, crackles or pops we will filter as much of it out as possible.

D.A.T Digital Audio Tape TransferWhen transferring D.A.T also known as Digital Audio Tapes we use a Sony DTC-750 deck which is connected via an optical digital cable connected using the optical digital connection. D.A.T tapes are normally used in recording studios or for live recordings and as such generally don’t require noise filtering however this can be performed if required.

* track transfer to CD, Wav, Aiff or MP3We can also transfer your old 8-track tapes using a Prinz Sound GRD8 8-track recorder, which is connected directly to our computer in order to offer the best transfer quality. Once we have transferred your tape we will then filter out any background hiss to make your recording sound clearer, although we won’t be able to remove it completely.
